Lore

I am a licensed massage therapist in both Georgia and Tennessee, and a Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage practitioner.

With a background rich with efforts to support individuals of all ages and abilities, I am very comfortable working alongside those with developmental delays or disabilities, neurodiversity, hospice or in-home care as well as a myriad of other unique situations that may make someone find it difficult to get the care or attention they need. Who you are is important to me, and I would love the opportunity to learn from you as I walk with you.

My focus is on providing services in comfortable, client-chosen environments, whether your needs are met by traditional spa settings or elsewhere. Adaptive massage can be a great in-home solution for those with sensory sensitivities, specific medical conditions or physical limitations needing modified positioning for comfort.

The past couple of years for me have been a time of life transition, especially following three significant surgeries in 2024. As I have continued to heal from that, I’ve been focused on identifying massage practices that can be beneficial to that healing process. Whether you need traditional massage techniques to loosen tensed, compensating muscles or if lymphatic massage might help you remove toxins from your own medical process, you have found a person who will listen with an understanding ear as we work toward your wellbeing.

I also enjoy educational opportunities where I can speak to groups of any age and size about the benefits of massage as well as other topics of self-care that can be explored through group learning. You might also consider booking me for body doubling services, a companion technique often used to increase the productivity of individuals with ADHD, neurodivergent or even neurotypical minds.

Did you know? Not only can massage decrease pain and reduce stress, it can improve circulation, lower cortisol levels, and boost immunity. Massage can also help increase range of motion as well as minimizing scar tissue and adhesions. Since I have personally experienced many of these benefits, I find myself learning and using techniques to aid others in the healing process as well as the simple benefits of therapeutic presence and touch.

Logo

In years past, I heard someone referring to a ‘turtle on a fence post’ noting that the turtle did not get there on it’s own. My brain whole-heartedly embraces this concept since I’ve always taken a little more time to accomplish my goals than some, and when I do achieve something it has usually only been with much gratitude to one or many others who helped encourage me or even helped me put one foot in front of the other when that’s what I needed. That’s why some intentional symbols were created within my logo, and I wanted to share details as a way to share some of my story.

Tree
My dad is an arborist and landscape professional. Retired, but still at it. Because of both of my parents having a strong love of natural beauty, trees have always been very symbolic and meaningful to me. A tree is very frequently part of creative projects that I take on, and in that way I have something in common with my mom, whose own appreciation for natural beauty has fueled mine. It serves as a solid anchor for this encore career’s logo.

Mushrooms
I’m just a sucker for mushrooms. I especially like some of the amazingly illustrated mushrooms from children’s books- whether from decades ago or more recent. As a backdrop for stories like Alice in Wonderland, in which being smaller than a mushroom can spark such a delight of imagination, these fungi speak to me.

Owl
Very early memories of mine are filled with owls. Special decorations around the home or favorite parts of stories. Since owls were a favorite of my grandmother’s, they became a favorite of my mother’s as well as mine. I’ve been blessed with a family of very wise women -both the maternal and paternal sides of my family tree– who taught strong lessons through their actions. I’m thankful for their wisdom and part in my life.

Fox
I had the wonderful circumstance of being adopted as ‘like a daughter’ by one special woman. Our beloved “Aunt” Kathey Fox eventually became Foxy to our boys when they came along. She played a key role, in her own no-nonsense way over the years, as I imagined and worked toward this endeavor, making things possible even after she left this world. I’m thankful for her as one of my best cheerleaders, and all of my adopted family on her side for being part of my life’s journey.

Roots, Circle & Such
I’ve spent many years in multiple career fields working with children, and reading beloved books. Curvy branching roots are always a fascinating visual and can contain many life lessons in their symbolism. Along with the never-ending circle, the tree’s leaves fading from season to season, all parts help tell a whole story. I can’t think of a better way to connect that world of experience to this new process of helping clients feel how all parts of us are connected as we work toward our best wellbeing.

Pink Paddle Club

As I walked through the part of my path that included multiple surgeries recently, I set a goal to be doing physical things that I could enjoy as I healed enough to do them. I’ve never done any stand-up paddle board paddling, and that became a very healing and positive activity in my life. So much so that I created a little “group” by way of Facebook or Instagram in hopes a small community might develop over time. If you’re even a little curious about this, I can share more.
